Gray Matters, whereas your time and entertainment clearly do not . . . matter, that is . . . at least not to Hollywood.
The movie stars Heather Graham (Gray) and Tom Cavanaugh (Sam) as brother and sister who are extremely close. They live together, work out together, hand out together and pretty much are inseparable. They are together so much that they are often mistaken for a “couple”. They both long for love and want to find that special person. So they make a deal to find the perfect mate for each other. Gray finds the perfect girl for Tom. They fall in love and get married. The good news is, Gray also falls in love with someone. The bad news is, she falls in love with Tom’s new wife. With her newly discovered identity, Gray struggles to deal with feelings and fights to save her relationship with her brother.
The best part of the movie – for the guys, anyway – is a very brief make out session with Heather Graham and Bridget Moynahan. Otherwise, Gray Matters pretty much violates your constitutional protection against cruel and unusual punishment. The story is . . . amazingly . . . neither interesting nor believable, the acting’s mostly horrific and hard to watch, and the dialogue is completely pedestrian – whatever pedestrian means . . . it’s a word they awkwardly stuck in the movie several times. Molly Shannon’s overacting and comedic timing saves a few scenes, but there’s not nearly enough of her to save the movie. |
